My favorite things

Two posts in one day!  Can you believe it? :)

I wanted to take a few minutes and talk about a couple of questions I hear quite often.

"What are your favorite Stampin' Up products?"

and

"What kind of products would you recommend for someone wanting to start crafting but are not sure where to begin?"

And so, I put together a list of my favorite products below.

Watercolor Wishes Card Kit - This kit is PERFECT if you're new to crafting.  Everything that you could possibly need is included in this kit - including a fantastic stamp set.  The only thing you may want to have is some liquid glue for the wood embellishments.  Other than that, the kit is all inclusive and has colored step by step instructions included.  Makes 20 cards and also includes envelopes.

Favorite Image Stamp Sets
- "Butterfly Basics" and "Awesomely Artistic".  If you've followed my blog for awhile, you know that most of my work is kind of "cutesy".  I've always loved fun happy images.  But there is something so beautiful and elegant about the images on these sets.  I absolutely love both of them.

Favorite Image Stamp Set
- tons of great versatile sentiments.  I use this set all the time.

Stamp Scrubber
- I honestly don't know how I ever crafted without this.  For years, I was using baby wipes to clean my stamps.  After using the Stamp Scrubber once, I was hooked.  It just makes things SO much easier!  And the Stampin' Mist smells incredible.  It kind of has a very light floral scent.  Not overpowering at all.  Since I had a spray bottle at home, I just bought the Stampin' Mist refill and use that -works like a charm!

Envelope Punch Board - Even if you're not into card making, I highly recommend this product.  It is also great to make little envelopes for your planner, journal, etc.  And it's easy and fun to use!  There are a ton of ideas on youtube for this great product.

Paper Trimmer - something I truly believe every crafter should have.  It just makes creating your projects so much easier.  And this trimmer has a lot of great features such as a safety lock and also a scoring blade.

Whisper White Cardstock - another staple when it comes to card making.  Great for card bases and also perfect for stamping.

Hope you found this list helpful.  If there's anything that you think you may be interested in, all of the products are listed below.  Just click on any picture and it will take you directly to my shopping page.

Thank you so much for stopping by today, and as always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at shelleylee34@yahoo.com.

Have a great weekend! :)

Big news!

I have two big announcements to share!

First, I created a 30/$30 board!

What is a 30/$30 board you might wonder?  Well, it's a fun way for my one of my customers to win some FREE Stampin' Up product!  For every $30 or more order (before tax and shipping), be sure to  email me at shelleylee34@yahoo.com.  I will have you choose a number between 1-30 and will write your name on the board.  When the entire board is filled, I will do a drawing.  The name written beside the number I choose will win $30 of Stampin' Up product FREE.

So, for a $30 + order, your name will be entered once.  For a $60 or more order, your name goes on the board TWICE.  And so on.

A few things to note:

*Free product must be chosen from the current Stampin' Up catalog.
*Clearance merchandise does not count toward free product.
*Past orders do not count toward this promotion.
*$30 orders must be BEFORE tax and shipping
*Free product must be ordered directly through me.
*No hostess only sets, class fees or stamp clubs will qualify for this promotion.
*$30 in free product must include tax and shipping.
*Any amount exceeding the $30 will be the responsibility of the winner.

And my second announcement? I'm having an online party!!  What does that mean for you?  Well, here's the info:

Place an order with me during my party and use the hostess code KPS4H9NN.  If the total party amount reaches $150 or more (before tax and shipping), then I will do a drawing and one of YOU will win the hostess rewards!  So place your order today for the chance to win!  The party will close on October 29, 2015 so all orders MUST be placed by then.

Have a great day everyone! :)

New Weekly Deals and Clearance Items

Hello!  Here are this week's deals and also the updated list of clearance items.  There are so many awesome things!  For example, if you love the Butterfly Basics stamp set as much as I do...and like me, if you don't already have the coordinating dies...they're on sale this week!  Yay!

And be sure to check out the Mini Bag Thinlits dies if you plan on making some little gifts for the trick or treaters in your life.

But my absolute favorites are found in the Clearance section.  First, hubby and I are planning on visiting Disney next year so I really love the Ticket Duo Punch.  And since I love my Erin Condren planner, the What's Up Punch with those cute arrows are also calling my name! (don't you think the top arrow also looks like a little house?  So many possibilities!)

Hope you all are having a great week!

Furry Friend Friday

Can a butterfly be furry?  To be honest, I really don't know.  But caterpillars are so I guess that counts.  :)

I have to admit that when I started, I had full intentions of making a dog layout.  But then it turned into something completely different.  I guess that's what happens when inspiration hits.

Actually, I think it's that my Nana has been on my mind a lot.  As I've mentioned before, we lost her in May and she was a HUGE part of my life for 43 years.  Anyway, since she passed, my family and I have been seeing dragonflies and butterflies everywhere. And so...this is what happened...

My layout turned into a scrapbook page with lots of beautiful butterflies. Originally, the background was just the Tempting Turquoise cardstock.  It was pretty -  but I wasn't really happy with it as I felt it needed something more.  I decided to take a small stamp from the Butterfly Basics set and stamp all over the turquoise cardstock to add interest to the background.  MUCH better.  I used the Tempting Turquoise ink pad to give it a tone on tone look. (the color in my photo is a bit off.  I promise it's a true turquoise in real life.)

I guess that's it for today.  Sorry no video for this one.  There were so many pieces that I figured if I tried to film it, it would be one loooong video!  Soon though, I will have more videos up for you.
Have a great weekend!

I'm back!

Hi Everyone!

I'm back after a lovely week long vacation to Canada to visit with my family.  It was so fun to get to spend time with all of them - especially my adorable little niece who turned 1!  We had a wonderful time together and although I hated to leave, I am grateful to have a wonderful home and life to come home to in Georgia as well.  Rejean (my husband) and I are so very blessed.

Anyway, I wanted to get back into the swing of things by telling you about this week's AWESOME weekly deals.  I've already put my order in because I just couldn't resist those fabulous punches!  Truth be told, I'm a bit of a punch addict. haha!  The Pansy Punch has been on my wish list for quite some time because it matches perfectly with the "Birthday Blossoms" stamp set (which I have and love!) and can also be purchased below.

Oh, and just a reminder:  The products from our "Home for the Holidays" catalog go on sale next Tuesday (Sept. 1st).  If you don't already have a demonstrator and would like a copy, please just let me know.  I would be happy to send one to you.  There are TONS of great products in this catalog for many upcoming holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween.

Below you will see a list of our weekly deals.  If you see something you like, just click on the picture and it will send you directly to my shopping page.  Please don't wait though as these deals go very quickly!

Hugs!  Hope you all have a great week!

Happy Birthday, Nana!

Today would have been my beloved Nana's 95th birthday.  This year, she's celebrating with Jesus in Heaven.  I found myself really missing her even more than usual today.  And as silly as it may sound to some, I found myself wanting to make her a card.  I know I can't actually send this one, but I like to think that my Nana is looking down from Heaven.  I hope it made her smile and know how much I love and miss her.

There are several things special about this card.  First, the background is the Lord's Prayer (or the Our Father as my Nana used to call it).  My Nana taught me that prayer when I was a little girl, so I thought it was fitting that I included it on her card.  And the dragonfly is because ever since she passed, I have been seeing them everywhere.  Especially blue ones.

And yes, I did write on the inside.  But that is just between my Nana and me.

If you have a Grandmother who is still living, please call her today and let her know how much you love her.  Or even better, if she lives close enough, give her a great big hug.

I love you, Nana.  Forever and always.

Happy Furry Friend Friday!

To be honest, I wasn't sure if I was going to get this week's project done, and I apologize it's not a video.  But, I've been feeling a little under the weather.

This card is pretty simple, but I really like all the vibrant colors.  And I think the dog is so cute (notice his little buddy hanging out on top of his tail!).  Oh, and his party hat?  It's made with one of the hexagon stamps in the set called "Six-Sided Sampler".  I just cut it into little triangle.

Hope you like it!  Have a happy weekend!  xo

Here is the project we're making today - a card featuring the Stampin' UpButterfly Basics stamp set (my favorite!).  If you don't own this set, you might want to check it out.  The images are just beautiful.  I also used the Tin of Cards and Floral Wings stamp sets as well.

Embracing our imperfections

I have a confession to make.  I struggle a lot with my own imperfections.  Especially when it comes to crafting.  Do any of you feel that way sometimes?  I look at projects on Pinterest or in magazines and the work there is always so beautiful.  I never, ever feel like anything I make measures up.

I think in some ways, that's a side effect of the world we live in today.  For example, if you look at the top five posters on your Facebook page, you'll see them sharing about all the wonderful things going on in their lives.  Rarely do you hear about the mundane.

And so, starting today, my goal is to embrace those imperfections.  I want to share my work.  The good and the not so good.  The projects I'm proud of - and maybe those that I don't like quite as much.  Because in every crafting journey, I realize I'm learning something along the way.

This is one of those times.  I can't say I love this project.  In fact, if I'm being honest, I'm not even sure I LIKE this card.  I've attempted several times and I can't quite seem to do justice to this adorable stamped image.  But I tried.  And I hope in my attempt, you see something that inspires you in some way.   :)

First attempt:

Second attempt:

**My thoughts: If I had it to do over, I would simply add the twine and sentiment to my first attempt.  For the first card, I inked one side of my embossing folder, but I did not run it through my machine.  The second card I actually embossed the cardstock with the ink on it.

Same supplies but two different looks.

Happy Monday!

Paper Pumpkin Kit

Hello!  Just a quick reminder that if you would like to get in on the Paper Pumpkin Kit for July, the deadline is tomorrow to sign up.

When I joined Stampin' Up as a demonstrator, they sent me a past kit as part of the welcome package.  In it, there were lots of supplies to make several cards.  Here are a couple I made so you can see the kinds of things you can make with these great kits!  The directions are included, but feel free to change it up a little and add your own creativity to it!

Or, in my case, if you mess up, feel free to come up with little fun ways to hide the mistake. ;)
**The star on the little card was not part of the kit.  I just happened to touch the stamped sentiment before it had time to dry.  Whoops!

If you're interested in subscribing you can find the link below.  It is a fantastic deal at only $19.95 per month (and that includes shipping!).  And every month it's a different project, so if you're not a card maker, no worries!  It's not always cards. :)

Have a great weekend everyone!  I'll be back soon (hopefully with some videos if I can figure out iMovie! lol).

Belated Happy Easter! :)

Hi everyone!

Wow!!  It has been a LONG time since I updated my blog.  Do you ever get in a crafty rut?  I think I've been there.  I've still been making cards and projects for my Sunday School class, but other than that, there hasn't been a whole lot of projects being made!

BUT, guess what?  I got a new video camera!  And my supportive hubby has set it up in a way that should work great for me.  So, I will be soon filming some videos for you!  I'm really excited about that.

I thought I'd share with you today some Easter treat bags I made for the children in my Sunday School class.  These were so fun to make!  And since I got my Misti tool, they were quick and easy too!

First, I picked up lots of goodies from our local Walmart.  (I also purchased the decorative bags from there).

Next, I used a stencil and some Tim Holtz Distress ink to make my polka dot background.  Then, I added my sentiment using the Paper Smooches "Spiritual Sampler" stamp set for the cross and the My Pink Stamper "More Faithful Sayings" set for the sentiment.

And in case some of you are considering the Misti Tool, here is one reason I love it so much and think it is well worth the money.

This was my first attempt at stamping one of my tags:

As you can see, my image is very splotchy.

Since the stamp is already positioned on my tool, I did not have to worry about lining anything up.  I just reinked my stamp and tried again.

And voila!  Perfect!!  I'll probably film a more extensive review on this down the road once I have a chance to use it a little more.   But my initial thought is that this is a must-have tool to have.  It will save you tons of time and lots of frustation if you are like me and sometimes struggle with getting a crisp, clear image. (Please note:  I am not affiliated with this company in any way.  And you know I never recommend something I don't love or use myself.)

And here is the final project.  I think I made 18 bags in total.  And the children really seemed to love them. (although I'm not sure the parents appreciated me giving their kids candy at 9:45 a.m.!) LOL!

And I've had some questions about what are some great Christian stamp sets.  Here are two that I personally love and use quite often:

My Pink Stamper Faithful Sayings

Paper Smooches Spiritual Sampler

and this one I don't own but makes my wish list ...

Paper Smooches Have Faith

Paper Smooches also has some great stamps to celebrate several Jewish Holidays.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be back again soon! :)
