Hi Everyone! I hope you had a great week. Are you ready to Hop along with us? It's going to be so much fun! :) If you are coming from my friend, Tracy's Blog then you are in the right place.
Our theme this month was:
St. Patrick's Day! Think Green! Show us a card, layout, mini book, party idea -- anything!
For my project, I used the My Pink Stamper Happiest Moments stamp set. This set covers a wide variety of special occasions and seasons. It's one I turn to a lot for my card making (or scrapbooking) needs.
And here is my card, along with a quick tutorial. I hope you like it.
(Click on any picture for a larger image)
One thing to note on how I made the shadow portion to my pot: I cut overall image out of black cardstock at 2 1/2". But when I made my gray layer, I cut that portion out at 2 1/4". Oh, and I cut a few extra gold coins for my card... just to make it a bit more layered. I wanted my Leprechaun to have something to get EXTRA excited about. LOL!
How to make the cloud background
1. Using the Create a Critter cartridge, cut out several clouds ranging in size from 1/2" to 1". Place these aside - we will be using them as "masks" for our background.
2. Next, decide where your diecuts will go on your card and place those also aside for now.
3. Stamp your sentiment on the lower right hand of your white mat.
4. Stamp the same white sentiment on an additional piece a scrap piece of white cardstock. Then, cut around it using your scissors.
5. Using repositionable adhesive, layer your second stamped sentiment over the one on your card.
6. Again, using a repositionable adhesive, adhere clouds to your white background (leaving space for the diecuts where ever you like).
You should now have something that looks like this:
Next, with some ink and a piece of foam, pounce ink all over the white portion of your card. I used the Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Stormy Sky along with the Ink blending tool.
(**If you want, you can do this step before adhering the white mat to your card. I just placed some scrap paper around it, so as not to get ink on the outer portions and it seemed to work fine.**)
Now your card should look like this:
Don't worry if there is more color in some areas than others. A sky is supposed to have different variations in color. That is exactly the look we are going for! :)
And finally, remove the clouds diecuts and the stamped sentiment. This should be the final result:
And there you have it - a background you created yourself!
Now add some pop dots to your Cricut cuts and place them on your card.
One quick tip: After piecing my Leprechaun together, I realized his cheeks weren't quite the color I wanted. So, I used a copic marker and changed the color. This is a great way to use your markers if you happen to find yourself without the right shade of cardstock.
Recipe
Simply Charmed Cricut Cartridge - Pot of Gold cut at 2 1/2 , Leprechaun cut at 2 1/4

Your next stop on the hop is my other sweet friend Roberta.
And when you are done hopping, please be sure to go back to My Pink Stamper and play along with us!
