Teacher's Touch Lives

Today's project was made for a sweet teacher friend of mine for her birthday.  If you're looking gift ideas for your child's teacher, this might be something to try.  And this might be a fun project you can do WITH your child. :-)

I bought one 10x10 artist canvas at our local craft store.  Then painted it black using acrylic paint.

I created my 10x10 layout and then placed it on my canvas. Since I wanted this to look like a mini chalkboard, I added strips of beige/sand color cardstock strips (1/2" x 12) all around the outer perimeter of my layout.

One thing to remember when creating an altered canvas is to add those elements with pop dots last.  This will ensure that when you apply the adhesive to the back of your page, you're not "smooshing" any of your 3D cuts.  It's hard to see in the picture, but I used pop dots on the apple and books.

I didn't add any stamping this time, BUT, I had serious thoughts about adding a little gift tag to the apple on top.  There are several My Pink Stamper sets that would work very well if you're giving this as a teacher gift.

Some suggestions:

"Thanks for your service." -MPS "Faithful Sayings" or "Everyday Occassions"
"For my friend" - MPS "Everyday Life"
"Apple of my eye" - MPS "Fruit & Veggie Puns"
"To &From" - MPS "Christmas Wishes"
"Handmade with love by" -MPS "Family &Friends"
"Thank You" - MPS "Simply Sweet Occasions", "Family & Friends",
"Everyday Life" or "Sweet Baby"

Lots and lots of choices...and they can all be found at these online retailers.

RECIPE

Apple & Books  cut at 5 1/2"  using the Hello Kitty Greetings Cricut cartridge
Title made using Plantin Schoolbook cartridge - "Teacher" cut at 2" and "Touch Lives" cut at 1 1/2"

**One note:  The white border around the apple and books was cut freehand by adhering my image to white cardstock and using my scissors to cut around it.  I had tried using the "shadow" feature on the cartridge, but found it made a thicker border than I wanted.**

Thanks for stopping by! :-)
