Happy Thursday everyone!! The weekend is almost here!!
For this project, I decided to do a layout that would be versatile enough to use for that special child you love, or perhaps one of you and your sweetie! Or how about pictures of grandma baking with her grandchildren?!
I wanted to create something with a vintage feel, but I also had another purpose in mind....to use up some of my scrap paper. As you can see from the pictures below, alot of this layout is just one background sheet of patterned paper, along with various strips of others. All patterned papers are from the "Sonoma Collection" by Scenic Route.
First, how to make the oven door so that it opens:
First, cut three strips of paper and fold them in half (as shown)
Next, in the bottom opening of the stove diecut, thread each strip halfway through and glue them to the back of the oven. Then, add glue to the front side of the strips as shown.
Add dark brown piece to the front of the strips. Now when you open the oven door, it should look like this:
Add yellow piece and small pie for inside of oven. Your oven is now finished and should look like this:
I used my Creative Memories heart punch to add a little extra cuteness to the front of the oven door.

The only other thing to mention is that I chalked everything well before adhering any pieces to my page. For this purpose, I used Tim Holtz's Distress inks in Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo. The Distress inks happen to be my favorite when it comes to adding dimension to my embellishments. I typically use ink around the edges of a diecut and chalk for anything that needs to be highlighted inside.
